Why This Booming Vegan Ice Cream Business Struggles To Find Investors

  • If it was actually booming it wouldn't struggle to find investors. Sorry blame it on your faults and not "racism"

  • What kinda pisses me offf, is 1. The lack of efficency, 2. It feels a little half assed and like neither of them know how to manage their money, and 3. She pulls the race card as an excuse like she is some kind of victim and the investors are out to get her. I don't wanna get in a debate over racism, I know its a thing, it just feels like she defaulted to that because some investors are being (understandibly) really wary about investing in a company that (at least I think) is being poorly managed

  • "people won't invest in my business because I'm a black woman." What a pathetic outsourcing of responsibility. People will invest in what they think will return them a profit. You can't afford to hire 1 more employee as you drive a Tesla. This clueless (and probably well intentioned) lady does not deserve a successful ice cream business.

CA ACA A6 hari yang lalu
  • Systemic racism not a bad business model and inefficient business practices? Driving a Tesla without being able to hire another person doesn’t sound like racism, sounds like misplaced priorities.

  • That’s not a lot of output. It would be hard to invest in a company that only makes 150 cartons a day. It’s great that they sell so much but the containers are incredibly small to begin with. The company output is 50,400 cartons with a profit around $252,000 a year . I’m curious what the cost of goods is with rent ... the actual profit this company is making. Is 80% of product being sold in 2.5 hours happen daily or just during summer months? So much of this isn’t discussed in this clip.

  • After watching this whole video... your product and business standpoint isn’t an investable thing. Investors aren’t looking to have there money tied up in a place for 30+ years to get it back and on top of it... your ideals as a person seem so extreme to the point it’s a turn off. Im here to make money not try to function politics into my business.

Melvin BowdenMelvin Bowden13 hari yang lalu
  • Im black and a business owner who has only white investors and I can tell you none of them would invest in her. Investors will 1000% go to where money is, but the moment you turn them off like she did for me... you’ll never get it. She blames her failure as a businesswoman on systemic racism. What a load of BS... im black and I make 6+ figures off of white people lol

And it's S R that's holding you back which equals "It's not my fault that I can't get everything I want right now, it's theirs!" The same thing has happened to me several times and I'm White. It's sad that you think the way you are thinking, but I wish you all the best either way.

  • I have very easy fix for them Since demand is very high then they can charge more and still find enought customers to sell 100 proc of their stock which would allow them to get things fixed, more money means they can get better kitchen and/or an employees, thatallows them to make more ice cream and at some point that will balance itself out where they could get the production going on higher scale, back up with price increase and srill being able to support themself. But I guess whining about other people not trowing money at them and blaming virtually inexistent racism for it is easier than putting actual thought into it and expanding the business.

Hideki ShinichiHideki Shinichi14 hari yang lalu
  • ridiculous that she blames racism for not finding investors. Finding investors is really difficult, and ofc the investers will want equity/control. Peter tiel famously says that he doesnt invest in anything where he doesnt have control Also, she calls her business sustainable because they open the coconuts themselves and give the husks away, wtf? Meanwhile they are probably shipping coconuts from an unsustainable coconut farm in indonesia. Ice cream also requires energy to be stored. She has the balls to call this 'regenerative', which is clearly an attempt to attack 'regenerative agriculture' (closed loop, animal intergrated agriculture that regenerates the soil)

  • It's not systemic racism, no one is investing in restaurants or new food based products right now. The risk is far too high. Posing the economic impact of covid as endemic of systemic racism is racist on your part, not investors'.

  • Rofl. That took a turn. Folks need to stop mistaking correlation and causation.... You think it's cause you're a black woman? Or because its vegan product sold by a woman who sees any lack of interest as racism 🙄 My gut instinct (as a non whitey) is that most larger investors want a broad appeal product, not a niche one. That's a fairly common sentiment across the entire investing world... Maybe she would have already found a big investor interested in a high value niche if she didnt immediately call folks racist when they declined to invest 🤦🏾‍♀️

  • My granddad, born in 1929, only had a third-grade education and was able to build several successful businesses prior and during the height of the civil rights movement. And these businesses still remain today. He had no investors. While systematic racism does exist, the area of entrepreneurship is unique because you can succeed without the help of any “racist” institution or investor. I do not see racism at work here; I see poor planning.

  • 1:37 Here's some FREE advice for you guys because you're obviously not trying: - place a largeish container underneath the machine to catch excess ice cream - with MORE HANDS, place empty ice cream tubs underneath the machine and fill the tubs to about 80-90% capacity - top off container manually from excess ice cream that lands in reservoir container - scoop using larger spoons There you go. Now I've helped made you thousands, perhaps millions more by scaling up the operation. Stop crying about race if you're not being resourceful or efficient enough. Honestly sounds like an intentional grift actually with the race baiting and race hustling, and the packing with TINY spoons. Everyone, beware.

However, including multiracial Asians, Asians only make up 6.5% of the US population.... they are the only ''folks'' that seem to be over represented here. But why do I feel like these people are trying to blame white people for this? Also, 3 million?! And she can't afford air-conditioning with her booming business?? This is a joke right?

  • Honestly, vegan ice cream (coconut, cashew, and honestly a lot others) have been around for a while and there's plenty of brands out there that are doing really well with crowds. I think they need to efficientize their production. Even with 2 people, you shouldn't be only producing 150 of those tiny cups in a day.. If you're not getting investors, you gotta learn how to control your cash flow and profits, and invest in yourself. If you have tons of paying customers but you're not making enough profits to grow a small business like this, you're doing it wrong lol. Investors care about your business knowledge and how much you're willing to learn lol, and from this 5 minute video I can say every investor will walk away as fast as possible JUST on the fact that something is TERRIBLY wrong with your business model or pricing or setup :/ I like the sustainability part but man it HURRrrrT to watch yall use the tiny ass spoons.. • So, she has a Tesla and is selling 80% of their stock in the first 2 hours. Let's do some math. Let's say they're only offering 200 little cartons of ice cream at 5 bucks a pop. That means they're selling 160 of those cartons in the first 2 hours, making $800 (scale it up to 500, its 400 in 2 hours at $1000). You do this every day for a month, you make about 3240-7000 a month? Seems like more than enough to hire at least one or two more employees. Especially if you add the 60k+ you drop on a Tesla. You'd even have enough to rent out your own kitchen/dining space. Like cmon
