Why South Korea's Coronavirus Curve Looks So Different From The Rest Of The World

As COVID-19 spreads around the world, some countries' timelines look different from others. With a combination of contact tracing, testing, and isolating cases, along with other physical distancing policies, places like South Korea were able to reduce the size of its coronavirus outbreak and flatten the curve. But many other countries have seen the number of new cases grow exponentially. Countries that didn't start testing and tracing early have had a harder time reducing the number of daily new coronavirus cases.

If you cannot trust or sacrifice for your countrymen in an existential crisis, what makes you think you are countrymen at all.

  • Yeah, it's now August and they're still pushing the fake pandemic narrative. It's not about a pandemic, it's about imposing global technocratic fascism. Countries that didn't impose draconian mandates are somehow fine. Sweden didn't do anything, no masks, no shutdowns, and somehow they're all fine. Poor developing countries with dense populations with no capacity to implement the fascistic mandates should have mass casualties yet nothing is reported. This is the biggest psychological operation ever created

  • This whole analysis is flawed because you are assuming case numbers are in direct relation to the population infected at any particular time. Case numbers are not, they are a reflection of how many tests are done at a particular time. Your addition of countermeasures to the timeline makes no sense as countermeasures do not affect the number of tests done. California was hit right away with almost half the people in the bay area sick in Dec or Jan. Millions were exposed by end of Jan. Testing people in March in April does not mean they were exposed or contracted a disease in March or April. On top of this the creator of the test (PCR) said it is not to be used to diagnose. It has no reliability in diagnosis so the data from testing is completely unreliable. Hospital admission as compared to countermeasures would be a better analysis. New case data the media keeps pushing is a lie. Those people were already infected at some time in the past, anytime in the past, by any type of corona. It has zero correlation to who got sick at any particular time frame. I hope this clears the data up a bit. God bless! Get back to work before they kill all of society.

Koreans have known that masks are totally effective because the 17th patient had never transmitted the virus to any of one thanks to wearing masks every time even in the biggest Korean traditional family event-lunar new year's day. He had never get rid of masks even in his home. After that all koreans keep wearing masks strictly.

  • I’m a Korean student who studies abroad and I came back at the end of April. I was seriously impressed by how the country deals with people coming in from overseas. When I landed, I went through temperature screening, downloaded an app to record my symptoms, and they checked my contact details and my address to self quarantinine in before letting me go. This all happened in under 30 minutes. To leave the airport, I had three different options: my family picking me up, or using designated buses or cabs. I took a cab, and the driver first drove me to a public health center near my house to get the COVID19 test done, which was free and was done in under 10 minutes. While I was there, I received a free kit with masks, temperature measuring kit, a disinfectant, a hand sanitizer, and a huge plastic bag for medical waste where I was to put all my garbage for the next two weeks for the health center to collect and dispose safely once my self-quarantine is over. The next day, they called to let me know my test result came back negative. I’ve been self-quarantining myself since then, and the government officials call me twice daily to check that I am staying at home and that I do not have any symptoms. I literally haven’t stepped outside my house for the past 12 or so days, but I am not complaining because though my test result is negative, I am not going to do something dumb and selfish by going outside and not following the rules when the health care workers and government officials are working their asses off everyday. Really it’s so impressive. Kudos to all of them for keeping our country safe.

  • The Korean governmet is not watching people, but the people are watching the government. Former President Park was impeached by the people just because she was involved in the market economy. Also, a mask is not a symbol of infection, but is a symbol of prevention. Maybe young people like us might be okay, if we get infected. However, it has a highly fatality rate for people in their 50s and older. We have to protect our family. Anyway, I really hope that we can change a strict policy here in South Korea that those who don't have a family abroad and many organizations cannot export or send any masks abroad, and help the countries that helped us during the Korean War by offering lots of masks and testing kits for free as soon as possible. Especially for the countries that helped us defend our democracy when we didn't have the power to protect our country.
